ne D. Jones, a Prineville resident, passed away on December 11, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville, Oregon. She was 89 years old.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2006 at Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville, Ore.
Irene was born in Luseland, Saskatchewan, Canada on February 2, 1917 to Marie Louise (Detert) and Henry Basch. She came to the United States in 1923, to Yamhill, Ore. She grew up and was educated in Yamhill. She graduated from Yamhill High School in 1935.
She married Milton "Chip" Jones on September 1, 1940 in Richfield, Washington. He preceded her in death in July of 1996.
They lived in several cities before moving to Portland in the late 1940's. They moved to Prineville in 1977.
She enjoyed reading non-fiction and history, boating, wildlife, birding and loved gardening; raising flowers and vegetables.
Irene is survived by: a special niece, whom she helped raise, Stacie and her husband Gary (Busch) Milliman of California City, Calif., and her niece, Linda and her husband Dennis Johnson of Newberg, Ore., and a grand-nephew Brad and his wife Brandee Hanson of Woodland, Wash., and her dog, Gizmo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, two sisters, and one great-nephew.
