erta Evadene Thomas Denman Gile Lewis, a Prineville resident, passed away on June 11, 2006 at Golden Years Adult Foster Home in Prineville, Oregon.
She was 90 years old. At her request, no public services will be held. Alberta was born in Ashland, Oregon on December 17, 1915, the daughter of Albert W. and Hazel Loretta (Crowson) Thomas.
She grew up in Ashland, Oregon, and graduated from Ashland High School in 1933, and later attended Southern Oregon Normal School in Ashland and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She started teaching school in 1938, and taught in Glendale, Veneta, Springfield, Crescent, and Bridge, Oregon, and for more than 20 years in the Coos Bay - North Bend School District retiring in 1976 after teaching for more than 37 years.
She moved to Prineville in 2001 from Gresham. She enjoyed traveling on motorcycles, square dancing and sewing. In Prineville, she attended Faith Ministries Centre International. Alberta is survived by: her sons Reverend Thomas Denman of Prineville, and Jim Denman and his wife Laura of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband; Wallace Denman (1956), her second husband; Norm Gile (1990), her third husband Robert Lewis (2002), and one sister; Helen Payton. Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
