Edwin Derrick

Rev. Edwin Earl Derrick passed away July 13, 2006 at age 92 in Prineville, Ore. Memorial services will be held Aug. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fossil, Ore.
   Edwin Earl Derrick was born on Sept. 19, 1913 to William and Myrtle Dell (George) Derrick in Summit, Idaho. In 1915 his family moved to Fossil, Ore., where he attended school. Edwin graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1932. Edwin also attended Northwest Evangelistic Institute, which was later called Cascade College. In 1941 Edwin was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Army for 39 months and was discharged in 1945. Edwin then graduated from Asbury College and became a pastor at the Kinzua Community Church.
   Edwin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fossil, Ore.
   His passion was being involved with the church and serving as a pastor for many years. His hobbies were hunting, ranching, cows, fellowshipping with his church family and helping others. Edwin is survived by: his nephews, William and his wife Kim Lyle of Prineville, Ore., Lanny and his wife Betty Lyle of Forrest Ranch, Calif., and Robert Lyle of Prineville, Ore.
   Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Letha Vera Lyle. Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Mountain Bible College P.O. Box 10 Vancleve, KY 41385-0010.
