Aug. 31, 1925-Sept. 7, 2013
Perry Hewitt was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Henry Wallace and Cora (Howard) Hewitt. He lived there with his parents and only sister Donna who has preceded him in death.
After his Army service in World War II, he moved to Pasadena, Calif., where he finished college and met and married Gertrude Christine Braun from Dickinson, N.D. They were married 57 years until her death in 2010.
Perry had a 25-year career in the aerospace industry working as a machinist for Jet Propulsion Laboratory working on NASA space projects.
His undying love of his two whippet dogs, OToole and Junior, was well known. He was known by his friends and family as a man of dignity, honor and decency. His sense of humor was warm and playful.
He leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins who will always remember his gentle spirit and serine smile.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Our gratitude goes to the caregivers at Heritage House in Woodburn who cared for him in his final days.
