Sacred Heart student wins pig
Each year Oregon Pork Producers hold an essay writing contest asking contestants what they would do if they won a pig.
Turner Lear, a member of the 4-H Green Grazers Club and a seventh-grade student at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Gervais, was one of two winners out of 60 entrants.
Turners essay explained how important he thought it was that if you were raising a pig for show, you should raise it from start to finish. He gave three reasons why he thought it was important: It teaches responsibility, you get to know your animal and you get to have lots of fun in the process. Turner is still thinking about what to name his new pig.
