Gervais Top scores six goals in win over East Linn Christian Academy

Top failed to notch a goal in the play, but he connected on all six of the Cougars’ goals to hand Gervais its first victory of the season in dramatic fashion.?Top was assisted on a pair of goals by Juan F. Navarette and on a third by Gonzolo Zamora. Top’s three other goals were unassisted, and he missed on several more attempts, according to Gervais coach?Juan Flores, who thought that the six scores were a Gervais record, though he could not confirm the fact. The victory gives the Cougars a strong start to the beginning of conference play while handing the school its biggest victory since a 10-1 win over Jefferson in 2011. Gervais (1-1-2, 1-0 Special District 3) continues conference play Tuesday at No. 8 Blanchet Catholic (4-1-2, 1-0), followed by a trip to Jefferson (0-2, 0-1) Friday.
