It’s been almost one month since the North Marion girls’ soccer team opened the season with a victory over Tillamook High School.

Since then, the Huskies have played six games and are still looking for win number two.

North Marion came close this past week with conference games against Estacada and Madras, pulling 1-1 draws against each team on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Despite the long stretch since the opening win, the Huskies (1-3-3, 0-1-2 Tri-Valley) are still very much in contention for the playoffs in the Tri-Valley Conference.

The No. 4 La Salle Falcons (5-2, 3-0 TVC) lead the conference by a wide margin, but the next five teams are all separated by a half game.

Gladstone and Molalla each hold a conference record of 1-1-1, while North Marion, Madras and Estacada bring up the back of the league with identical 0-1-2 records.

While the top teams in the Tri-Valley Conference is guaranteed a first-round bye into the OSAA’s 16-team tournament, the second and third place teams in the conference are awarded play-in berths.

The Huskies travel to Molalla Tuesday, followed by a home game against No. 7 Gladstone Thursday.
