Victims identified in Forest Grove crash

A girl playing outside was killed and her sister was critically injured by a driver in Forest Grove on Sunday evening.

Police have identified the victims as Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, and Abigail Robinson, 11. Both are live in Forest Grove in the 1700 block of Main Street and are half-sisters.

Anna was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medics. Abigail who is hospitalized with life threatening injuries.

Police have located the involved vehicle in the fatal crash. It is being forensically searched and processed. There were no immediate arrests.

A candle light prayer service for the victims was held at the Forest Grove Sonrise Church located at 2835 19th Avenue on Monday evening.

An account has been set up for donations to cover expenses for the family. Donations can be made to the "Deiter-Robinson" fund at any Columbia Credit Union branch or through the Sonrise Church. Anyone with questions about making a donation may contact Sonrise Church at 503-640-2449.

According to the Forest Grove Police, at 8:42 p.m. on Oct. 20, officers responded to a report that two children had been hit by a vehicle in the 1700 block of Main Street.

Officer arrived and determined that one girl was deceased at the scene. Her sister was Lifeflighted to a Portland trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers learned that the girls were playing near their home in leaves that were piled partially in a greenway area and partially on the curb into the street.

Police say Forest Grove is a tight knit community and this tragic incident has hit hard with the family, community members and the first responders involved.
