Three Woodburn boys finished in the top 12 overall at Wednesdays cross country race at Dallas City Park hosted by the Dallas Dragons.
Placido Salvador (9th, 17:11), Gustavo Lopez (11th, 17:25) and Eddie Bravo (12th, 17:33) were the top finishers for the Bulldogs as the team finished fourth behind Corvallis, Dallas and Lebanon.
Lopez and Bravo set personal records at the race, while Salvador missed out on his own PR by just one second.
Thats the happiest Ive seen them all year, said Woodburn coach Tom Lonergan after the race.
Out of 18 Bulldog runners, 13 set new personal records and two others missed their PR by one second.
Every one of them were pleased, said Lonergan. They all felt pretty good about that.
The Husky boys cross country team finished 15th in a packed field at the Country Fair Classic in Veneta on Wednesday.
Colin Barrow (72nd, 17:54) led the team, as the Huskies finished in the middle of 29 teams. He was followed by Ben Hanberg (75th, 17:56), Grant Barrow (81st, 18:03), Ulises Vargas (88th, 18:06) and Klayton Pippert (114th, 18:37).
Hannah Surcamp (54th, 21:38) and Grace Durst (180th, 26:58) represented the girls team.
Freshman runner Griselda Vargas-Ayala led the Buckaroo girls at the PacWest-West Valley Challenge Wednesday at Bush Park in Salem.
Vargas-Ayala placed 37th in 24:46.4, followed by teammate Ivonne Hernandez (41st, 25:09.4).
The boys were led by Adal Izquierdo (21:46.8) and Hugo Alonzo (21:49.3) who finished back-to-back, respectively, in 88th and 89th place.
