Washington Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week during the week of Oct. JUAN LARIOS - PE teacher Glenn Hopkins, flanked by Tlalnatzin and Cihuacoatl Carlos, wore pajamas for Red Ribbon Week.

Counselors Allie Meyer and Mara Silvera taught a bully prevention lesson in every class, which was reinforced by teachers throughout the week.

“Since October is also Bully Prevention Month, we chose to also focus the week on bully prevention,” said Principal Juan JUAN LARIOS - Washington Elementary School educational assistant Gevin Gregory and student Tegan Henson-Velarde model their pajamas during Red Ribbon Week.

Each day had a different theme to raise awareness:

Monday was “Turn Your Back on Bullying Day,” in which students wore their clothes backward;

Tuesday was “I’m Too Bright for Bullying Day,” when students wore their brightest clothes;

Wednesday was “Friends Don’t Let Friends Bully Day,” when students dress up the same as a friend;

Thursday was “Dreaming of a Bully-Free School Day,” when students came to school dressed in pajamas.
