Washington Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week during the week of Oct. 21.
Counselors Allie Meyer and Mara Silvera taught a bully prevention lesson in every class, which was reinforced by teachers throughout the week.
Since October is also Bully Prevention Month, we chose to also focus the week on bully prevention, said Principal Juan Larios.
Each day had a different theme to raise awareness:
Monday was Turn Your Back on Bullying Day, in which students wore their clothes backward;
Tuesday was Im Too Bright for Bullying Day, when students wore their brightest clothes;
Wednesday was Friends Dont Let Friends Bully Day, when students dress up the same as a friend;
Thursday was Dreaming of a Bully-Free School Day, when students came to school dressed in pajamas.
