Gertrude Ellen Lindquist Owen
September 6, 1909 - November 19, 2013
A little over 10 years ago a tribute article appeared in a Montana paper regarding the 70th wedding anniversary of Gertrude and Roy Owen. Then a year later, Gertrude was widowed and moved to Nevada and then Oregon to live near daughters.
Gertrude passed away at Emerald Gardens in Woodburn on Nov. 19, 2013 having attained the age of 104.
She was born in Juanita, Wash., attended grade and high school there, and worked in Seattle for several years until meeting her husband. They moved to Idaho and Montana. She was very active in the outdoors, loving to garden, fish and golf, as well as having a penchant for bowling during the cold winter months.
She was very proud of her Finnish heritage, her parents having migrated to the USA from Finland in the late 1890s.
She survived seven siblings and left two daughters, Patricia and Barbara, and a son-in-law Robert Cannon. Also surviving are three grandsons, Robert, Tim and Mike, and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband nicknamed her The Blonde and this blonde will be sorely missed.
