Dayton Leroy Rogers' eighth victim ID'd


Authorities have identified the remains of a suspected eighth victim of serial killer Dayton Leroy Rogers.

Through analysis of DNA samples, Rogers’ eighth victim has been identified as Tawnia Jarie Johnston, who was 18 years old at the time of her SUBMITTED - Dayton Leroy Rogers

Johnston’s body was one of seven found at a forested hillside dump site outside Molalla in the summer of 1987.

Rogers, 60, also known as the “Molalla Forest Murderer,” was convicted in 1989 for the murders of the other six victims: Lisa Marie Mock, 23, Maureen Ann Hodges, 26, Christine Lotus Adams, 35, Cynthia Devore, 20, Nondace Cervantes, 26, and Riatha Gyles, 16.

In 1988 he was convicted in the 1987 murder of Jennifer Lisa Smith, his final victim, in a Clackamas County parking lot.

Rogers owned a repair shop in Woodburn, Small Engine Repair Unlimited, where metal accessories, such as earrings, belt buckles and bra fasteners, were found, linking him to the victims.
