Woodburn Market is giving back to the community for the holidays.
The market, run by owner Jay Singh since 2010, is giving away free turkeys on Thanksgiving, something he has done every year hes been in business.
Theyre ready to go, ready to eat, Singh said. Last year we started the giveaway at 10 in the morning and by 5 in the afternoon it was all gone.
Now, adding to the 200 pounds of turkey donated by Singh, he is going to buy more than $2,000 worth of toys and gifts to give away to customers. Customers can come in any time before Dec. 20 to enter the free drawing. The winners will be drawn Dec. 20 and they can pick up their gifts the next day.
This community gives me a good business, so whatever I can give back, thats what Im trying to do, Singh said. Im not trying to make money off of it, free means free, in exchange. You can make a lot of money and once a year, its OK to say thank you to the community that helped my business.
Woodburn Market is located at 398 N. Pacific Highway.
