Woodburn School District hosting forums on bond
- Woodburn Independent - News
The Woodburn School District will host five public forum meetings for its community and parents to learn about the districts plans to develop a bond measure that will be presented to the community during the primary election in May.
The public forums will present an opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on the bond.
The bond is unique in that it will be revenue neutral, which means taxes will not increase for property owners.
This is possible because an old bond for the school district will retire before the new one would take effect.
The student population in Woodburn schools has increased by 30 percent (1,340) in 10 years. In the same time period, the districts ending fund balance has gone from $12 million to $2.5 million.
The district does not have the resources to build new facilities without a bond.
The public forums are open to the public and will be held on the following dates:
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m.
Heritage and Valor - Valor Cafeteria
450 Parr Road, Woodburn
