Firefighters to blare sirens for food drive donations Saturday

The North Marion County Fire Fighters Annual Food & Toy Drive will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

When you hear the sirens or see the fire trucks and scouts coming through your neighborhood, bring your food items out to meet the volunteers. You may also leave your donations curb side.

This is an effort being held by firefighters in Woodburn, Hubbard, Aurora, Donald and Gervais and surrounding areas, who will be driving through their respective communities with local civic groups, community partners and the Boy/Cub/Girl Scouts assisting in the collection of nonperishable food items.

Nonperishable food items include: Canned soups, beans, vegetables, fruits, pastas, grains, oils, cereal, baking products, etc.

If you do not want the sirens to sound on your street, please call your local fire department and every effort will be made to meet your request on the day of the food drive.

Donations in Woodburn will go to St. Vincent de Paul, which will distribute to as many as 150 local families in need.

Food collected in the Hubbard, Donald and Aurora areas will be distributed through the Hubbard Love, Santa organization, which will also accept cash and check donations through Dec. 13.

Other drop-off locations for nonperishable food, toys and monetary donations include the Aurora Fire Station, Woodburn Fire District Headquarters Station and Hubbard Fire Station.
