Shalom Prayer Center, a ministry of the Benedictine Sisters, is offering Memoirs of the Soul: Writing Your Spiritual Memoir Workshop with Nan Phifer on Jan. 24-25, from 7 p.m. Friday to 3:30 p.m on Saturday.
Phifer, author of Memoirs of the Soul: A Writing Guide, will lead you in writing about your most meaningful experiences and their spiritual resonances.
She will demonstrate a process that evokes spontaneous rough drafts and supportive responses. From her presentation, attendees will gain a table of contents, learn a writing process that produces profound memoirs and write the opening pages of several chapters.
Phifer travels nationally to give workshops in spiritual writing and is the resident scholar for the Oregon Writing Project at the University of Oregon.
For more information about Phifer and her workshops, visit her website, www.memoirworkshops.com.
The cost of this workshop, with an overnight stay and meals, is $125, and the deadline for registration is Jan. 17. Phifers previous workshops at Shalom have filled quickly, so early registration is encouraged.
Shalom Prayer Center, located on Main Street in Mount Angel, is rooted in the tradition of Benedictine hospitality and monastic spirituality. The center is open to men and women of all faith traditions to seek wholeness and deepen their relationship with God.
