Michael Mallery is accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old family member

Pacific University's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Michael Mallery was arrested Tuesday in connection with an investigation into inappropriate relations with an underage member of his family.

by: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Pacific University Vice President Michael Mallery was arrested on Tuesday under suspicion of sexually abusing an 11-year-old family member.Washington County sheriff's detectives received a report from the Department of Human Services in May outlining alleged sex abuse by Mallery, 48, that led to the investigation and a grand jury indictment.

Mallery surrendered Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 21, and was lodged in the Washington County Jail on seve counts of first-degree sex abuse. His bail was set at $175,000 bail.

According to sheriff's detectives, DHS staff told them an 11-year-old family member reported to a teacher that Mallery touched her inappropriately. Detectives investigated the accusation and the DHS report, giving the information to the Washington County district attorney's office, which presented the case to the grand jury.
