Chili cook-off on tap for Saturday

The Friends of Tryon Creek will host its annual chili cook-off on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Talented volunteer chili chefs from around the area will compete for the esteemed title of Tryon Creek Chili Master 2014.

“The Friends invite park visitors and chili aficionados alike to come in out of the cold, sample some of the best chili the Portland area has to offer and cast their vote for their favorite,” said Sarah Kreisman of the Friends group. “Delicious complimentary craft brews and wine will be served and music will be performed by singer/songwriter Jonathan Brinkley and his band.”

There are a few spaces still available for chili chefs, but they are going fast. If interested, contact Kreisman at 503-636-4398.

The event will be held at the Nature Center in the 675-acre Tryon Creek State Scenic Area, 11321 SW Terwilliger Blvd., Portland.
