No surprises in primary races


The unofficial May 20 election results from Multnomah, Clackamas and Hood River counties were updated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 21. Results will be updated as they become available.

House District 39:

Republican

• Rep. Bill Kennemer — 98.77 percent of votes, or 4,412.

Democrat

• No candidate filed.

The district encompasses an area including the communities of Eastacada, Eagle Creek, Boring and Damascus (south of Highway 212).

House District 49:

Republican

• Bill Beckers (write-in candidate) — as of election night, 91 write-in votes were cast, but no winner listed.

Democrat

• Rep. Chris Gorsek (unopposed) — 99.16 percent, or 1,645 votes.

The district encompasses an area including Troutdale, Wood Village Fairview and a portion of Rockwood.

House District 50:

Republican

• Dan Chriestenson (write-in candidate) — As of election night, 366 write-in votes cast, no winner listed.

Democrat

• Carla Piluso — 1,967 votes or more than 81 percent.

• Beatrice Cochran — 418 votes or more than 17 percent.

The district encompasses an area including the city of Gresham.

House District 51:

Republican

• Jodi Bailey — 1,672, or more than 67 percent.

• Brandon Miles — 778, or more than 31 percent.

Democrat

• Rep. Shemia Fagan (unopposed) — 2,323, or more than 97 percent.

The district encompasses an area including West Gresham (Powell Butte), Damascus (north of Highway 212), Boring, Happy Valley and Sunnyside.

House District 52:

Republican

• Rep. Mark Johnson (unopposed) — 3,106, or more than 99 percent.

Democrat

• Stephanie Nystrom (unopposed) — 2,646, or more than 97 percent.

The district encompasses an area including the communities of Hood River County, Sandy and the mountain villages, Boring, Corbett, East Gresham and Cascade Locks.
