Less than a day after a young boy apparently drowned, divers pulled three more bodies from Henry Hagg Lake.
The bodies were found not far from shore where the boy was found around 6:30 p.m. Monday. The four people from Hillsboro are all related.
The four family members were identified as Jova Ixtacua-Castano, 42; Gabriela Garcia-Ixtacua, 25; Michael Garcia-Ixtacua, 13; and 3-year-old Jeremy Scholl.
Michael and Gabriela are brother and sister. Jova Ixtacua-Castano is the grandmother of Jeremy and the mother to Michael and Gabriela.
The three bodies found early Tuesday afternoon were found about 40 feet from shore in eight feet of water, about 60 yards from where the 3-year-old was found.
Divers said there is not a big current in the lake, but the biggest hazard is a sudden drop-off.
It is unclear at this time what caused the four of them to fall into the lake.
The search began Monday
Witnesses spotted the child unconscious in the water about 6:30 p.m. Monday. They pulled the child, Jeremy, from the water and performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.
Their efforts were not successful and the 3-year-old died at the scene.
He was not wearing a life jacket, though life jackets were available just yards away.
Searchers found a beach towel, cooler, shoes and other personal items on the beach close to where the boy was found, officials said. A car registered to the same person whose belongings were on the beach was found in the parking lot.
Around 7:20 p.m., Forest Grove Fire & Rescue found evidence others were still in the water near the Sain Creek Picnic Area.
The search continued until 10:30 p.m.
An autopsy will determine how the child died, though there were no obvious signs of trauma, the Washington County medical examiner said.
