Chendra, an Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, got to temporarily visit with a mechanical Giganotosaurus recently, before the Zoo set up its 'Prehistoric Predators' exhibit. 'It was definitely an enriching experience for Chendra,' says Bob Lee, the Zoo's senior elephant keeper. 'She was quite curious, exploring the dinosaur's mouth and teeth with her trunk.' The dinosaur exhibit, featuring 17 species, runs through Labor Day.

Local star Matt Lindland returns to the cage to fight on a mixed martial arts card by Strikeforce, which has been sanctioning events since 1995. Other standouts to fight are Tyron 'T-Wood' Woodley and Kerry Vera, the wife of MMA star Brandon Vera.

The music channel's hit show has featured the homes of rock stars and athletes - and this week, 'Teen Cribs' will feature the homes of teenagers in Oregon. A bit on the Pappas estate in Roseburg was to air Wednesday, and the Jantzer estate in Grants Pass will be part of the show's season finale Thursday. The Pappas home has a 300,000-gallon swimming pool and its own casino; the Jantzer estate has a log home with a home theater fit for Hollywood and an indoor basketball court. It was believed to be the first homes in Oregon featured on 'Cribs.'
