With more than 9,000 things to do, see and taste this year, the Oregon State Fair, Aug. 27 to Sept. 6 in Salem, will be too big to miss.

The Multnomah County Fair has come and gone, but it's fair season all around the city.

As you plan your weekly excursions with family and friends, here's a rundown of some fairs around Portland:

Hood River County Fair

July 28 to 30

Hood River County Fair Grounds, Wy'East and Summit roads, Odell

Admission: $20 pass ($2 ages 6-12), $6 Wednesday-Friday, $10 Saturday ($2 ages 6-12)

Hours: Opens 8:30 a.m. each day, 1 p.m. carnival

Highlights: Terri Clark, 8:15 p.m., July 31


Washington County Fair

July 29 to Aug. 1

Washington County Fair Complex, 873 N.E. 34th Ave., Hillsboro

Admission: Free, but rides and most events do charge

Hours: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day

Highlights: A free Gallagher performance, 6:30 p.m. July 29; Warrant, 7 p.m., July 30; Floater (With Zepparella), 7 p.m., July 31; a free Draft Horse Show, noon, Aug. 1


Yamhill County Fair

Aug. 4 to 7

2070 N.E. Lafayette Ave., McMinnville

Admission: $7.50 kids (ages 5-12), $17.50 adults passes

Hours: Opens 10 a.m. each day

Highlights: Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts, 8 p.m., Aug 4; Jack Ingram, 9 p.m., Aug. 5; Julianne Hough, 9 p.m., Aug 6; Little River Band, 9 p.m., Aug. 7


Clark County Fair

Aug. 6 to 15

Clark County Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield, Wash.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., opening Friday, Aug. 6; opens at 10 a.m. all other days; carnival opens at noon daily (9 a.m. Aug. 6)

Highlights: Miranda Lambert, Aug. 6; Scorpions, Aug. 7; Boys Like Girls, Aug. 9 (all separate tickets, shows at 8 p.m.)


Clackamas County Fair

Aug. 17 to 22

Clackamas County Event Center, 694 N.E. Fourth Ave., Canby

Admission: $8 adults, $5 juniors and seniors

Hours: Opens at 10 a.m. each day

Highlights: Aug. 18, John English, A Frank Sinatra Tribute; Aug. 20, The Touchables, 1960s cultural tribute; each day, rodeo


Oregon State Fair

Aug. 27 to Sept. 6

Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St. N.E., Salem

Admission: $20-$50 adults, $10-$30 seniors (65-over) and kids (ages 6-11) passes, $11 adults, $3 seniors/kids at gate

Hours: Opens at 10 a.m. each day, 11 a.m. carnival

Highlights: ZZ Top, 8 p.m., Aug. 27; Dierks Bentley, 7 p.m., Aug. 28; Lifehouse, 8 p.m., Sept. 2; Lynyrd Skynyrd, 8 p.m., Sept. 3; Cinderella/Queensryche, 7 p.m., Sept. 4
