Tickets are on sale for the group's annual holiday appearance. It'll be a little early (Nov. 15) this year. Last year, TSO played in front of 1.2 million people during the holiday season and, later, debuted the live rock opera, 'Beethoven's Last Night.' The band, which has sold more than 7 million albums, has a new release, 'Night Castle,' which features the single 'Believe' and a cover of 'Nutrocker.'

Portland Opera opens its 46th season with another revival of General Director Christopher Mattaliano's combination of these two masterpieces. Along with Emily Pulley making her debut as Nedda/Soprano soloist, the cast boasts several singers familiar to Portland audiences, including Richard Crawley, Mark Rucker and Marian Pop. Dance troupe BodyVox also stars. Mattaliano directs the action and John DeMain conducts.
