Spring Sports changes on-Line
Playing high school softball, baseball and tennis can be challenging due to the changes in the weather. Parents in the Forest Grove School District can now get up-to-the-minute information about changes or cancellations to spring prep sports on-line through the high school website. The feature, which links to HighSchoolSports.net, is under the high school Athletics/Activities tab, Team Schedules.
This site is updated immediately when decisions are made about game changes. Game/match status changes are typically made by 2:30pm.
Jr. Vikettes to dance at Blazers
The Jr. Vikettes Dance Team has been invited to perform at halftime of the Portland Trail Blazers game against the Washington Wizards next Tuesday, March 22. This will be the second time this season that the Jr. Vikettes have performed at a Blazer game.
Boxer Track records fall
The Pacific University track and field teams performed well at home Saturday as three Boxers' records fell at the Pacific Preview meet at Lincoln Park Stadium.
• Sam Lee set her second record of the season, winning the steeplechase in a time of 11:41.12. She reset her own record in the event by five seconds and is now qualified for the Northwest Conference Championships in every event from 800 meters to 10,000 meters.
• Nicole Smith set a Pacific record in the 100 meters, running 13.05 seconds. She bettered the mark of 13.08 seconds set by All-American Brooke Barker in 2005. Smith also ran the No. 2 time in school history in the 200 meters in 26.99 seconds. Smith is now qualified for the NWC Championships in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters.
• For the second straight week, the Boxers set a record in the women's 400-meter relay. The team of Kelli Aken-Pagdilao, Annie Mutchler, Jenna Matsumoto and Nicole Smith ran 51.16 seconds, bettering the mark of 51.95 seconds set last week.
The Boxers return to action this weekend as they take part in the Lewis and Clark Spring Open on Friday and Saturday.
A select number of Pacific athletes will also compete Saturday at the Oregon Preview at Hayward Field in Eugene.
