The Boxers beat the Bruins 4-1 Monday at Chuck Bafaro Stadium
A pair of clutch eighth inning hits by Jared Van Hoon and Mike Nagamine allowed Pacific University to hand George Fox their third sweep in a Northwest Conference series in 17 years.
The Boxers beat the Bruins 4-1 Monday at Chuck Bafaro Stadium after notching a pair of wins Saturday in two outstanding performances from starting pitchers
Sophomore Rob Dittrick threw his second complete game of the season in the opener, limiting the Bruins to just one run over the first seven innings to lift the Boxers to a 4-3 win. Jason Sawyer then threw the best outing of his young freshman season in the nightcap, allowing just one unearned run in seven innings as the Boxers won 4-1.
Nagamine finished with three hits Saturday to lead Pacific at the plate. Trux French had two hits in the first game while Koon finished with two hits and two runs scored in the second game.
With the win, the Boxers (11-5, 7-2 NWC) earned their second sweep of a NWC series this season. The Bruins (11-5, 2-4 NWC) suffered their third sweep of a conference baseball series since the school joined the conference in 1995.
