Cornelius Fred Meyer plans renovation
Store is set for upgrades as car plows into it

It's never a happy accident when someone drives their vehicle through the front of a retail outlet.
But when a car smashed into the eastern entrance of the Cornelius Fred Meyer last Tuesday, the regional retailer was in a bit of luck.
According to an article in Portland's Daily Journal of Commerce, a $5.5 million expansion of the store is going out to bid.
The story says the store's footprint won't be expanded, but the produce section and the frozen foods department will be. The garden center will also be enlarged to protect plants from harsh weather and the whole store will get a cosmetic facelift, just in the nick of time.
