Kimmel jumps in for Rave

The Rave in the Nave performing arts series has attracted a big name from the entertainment industry in Bruce Kimmel.

Kimmel's 40-plus years in entertainment has been highlighted by TV roles, directing films and producing Grammy-nominated CDs, and his writing has also been accomplished. His recent autobiography is 'There's Mel, There's Woody and There's You,' a memoir from his admitted 'life in the fast lane.'

Kimmel will participate in Rave in the Nave, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Christ United Methodist Church, 12755 N.W. Dogwood St. (Cedar Mill neighborhood). Tickets are $15 at the door, and reservations can be made by phone at 503-646-1598.

A Kimmel claim to fame was making the film 'The First Nudie Musical,' with Cindy Williams before her 'Laverne and Shirley' days, and then watching as Paramount Pictures nixed the film because of a perceived scandal. The movie, which Kimmel wrote, directed and starred in, became a cult hit.

He also co-created the film 'The Faculty' and, as an actor, he guest-starred in 'The Partridge Family,' 'Happy Days,' 'Laverne and Shirley,' 'MASH,' 'Alice' and others. He was also a regular on the 'Dinah and Her New Best Friends' with Dinah Shore. Since 1993, Kimmel has been one of the leading producers of theater CD music.
