David Wu to host open office hours in Tigard

Meetings to focus on economy, job creation

Rep. David Wu is coming to town for a series of short one-on-one meetings with constituents like you.

Wu, who represents Oregon's First Congressional District, will be in Tigard and Beaverton Monday and Wednesday in a 'new and ongoing effort to directly engage constituents.'

Wu will meet face-to-face with individuals and small groups across the First District in what are being called Wu's 'open office hours.'

Wu's announcement made no mention of questions surrounding his mental health or departure of several senior staff, saying that Wu wanted to ask voters about the economy and ways to create jobs.

'After years of uncertainty, we are beginning to see real signs that Oregon's economy is turning the corner - and the 1st Congressional District is leading the way,' Wu said in a statement. 'At this crucial time, I want to hear from constituents with fresh ideas to encourage private-sector growth and job creation.'

Unlike a traditional town hall - which Wu staffers say are being scheduled for later this month - Wu will meet with constituents privately in short meetings. The one-on-one meetings are by appointment only and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

'In order to accommodate as many people as possible, each meeting will be approximately five minutes in length,' the announcement read.

Wu's office requires those interested in attending to schedule an appoint by calling 503-326-2901 or 800-422-4003.
