Northwest shoppers prefer buying local foods
Locavore movement much stronger here than nationally
Grocery shoppers in the Northwest have a higher preference for locally grown foods than their counterparts elsewhere, according to a survey commissioned by Foster Farms, a Kelso, Wash.-based chicken processor.
A survey conducted by NSON Opinion Research of 1,000 Oregon and Washington grocery shoppers found 92 percent prefer purchasing locally grown foods, more than three times the national average.
More than one-third of the respondents said they were more devoted to buying local foods than they were a year ago.
