Lois (Schneider) and John Selmar
John and Lois (Schneider) Selmar of Gresham will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a coffee-hour reception at noon Sunday, March 20, at Zion United Church of Christ after worship. Their daughter, Kate Selmar, and friend Vonnie Smith will host.
John and Lois were married March 18, 1951, at St. Paul's Church in Wheatland, Iowa.
Lois taught at the Sulpician Seminary of the Northwest in Kenmore, Wash., and was an executive for the United Church of Christ in Washington and northern Idaho. She is involved with the League of Women Voters and the Oregon Symphony.
John was a speech therapist in public schools in Seattle and Kirkland, Wash. He then worked in private practice in Seattle and Gresham. He is involved with the American Civil Liberties Union, the Washington Retired Teachers' Association, Public Citizen and Common Cause.
John and Lois are members of Zion United Church of Christ.
They have two daughters, Kate Selmar of Troutdale and Chris Pantera of Fort Morgan, Colo., and two grandchildren.
