Ursula K. Le Guin speaks at West Linn library

by: Vern Uyetake Ursula K. Le Guin reads excerpts from her novel, "The Wizard of Earthsea," Wednesday as part of the capstone event of the 2011 West Linn Reads program.

Famed author Ursula K. Le Guin shared the secrets behind her novel, 'The Wizard of Earthsea,' March 15, capping off this year's community-wide West Linn Reads program.

The reading, rescheduled because of last month's snowfall, was held at the West Linn Public Library.

Throughout February, the library hosted a variety of events and activities revolving around themes set forth in the classic fantasy novel, such as dragon puppet-making and cover illustration design work.

Attendees had the chance to hear the 81-year-old author read excerpts from 'The Wizard of Earthsea' as well as ask questions of their own. The winners of the program's essay contest were also announced at the reading.
