NEWBERG - Rex Putnam graduate Brian Ranta continued to shine for George Fox University Saturday, pitching his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Willamette.

The junior right-hander threw a complete game, scattering five hits, striking out eight and walking one in nine innings on the hill.

It was the fourth complete game for Ranta, who sports a 5-1 record on the season.

Ranta this season has a 1.91 ERA, with 41 strikeouts, 34 hits allowed and only four walks in 47 innings pitched.
