Libyan airstrikes prompt Portland reactions

Supporters of the U.S.-backed Libyan no-fly zone outnumbered peace activists at a Tuesday anti-war demonstration.

Pictured at right, demonstration organizer Dan Handelman of Peace and Justice Works stands next to Nadia Abraibesh, a Libyan-American who was recently forced to flee from the besieged city of Benghazi, where she had been visiting relatives. She says the no-fly zone prevents Moammar Gadhafi's forces from slaughtering thousands of unarmed civilians. Pictured below, a Libyan immigrant explains why he is thankful for American military intervention. He only gave his name as Mustafa, explaining he still has family in Tripoli, which is controlled by Gadhafi loyalists.
