Thunderbolts step up big at short course

SPRINGFIELD - The Tualatin Hills Thunderbolts kicked off the short course championship season in late February, and kicked it off in style.
It began with the Oregon Swimming (OSI) 10 and Under Short Course Championships in Springfield, Feb. 19-20. Thirty-three of the Thunder-bolts' youngest swimmers - known as the 'Mini-Bolts' - qualified for the meet.
'This is an exciting time for the entire team, as the Thunderbolts are poised to be competitive at all level championships,' said Thunderbolts head coach Linck Bergen.
THSC had four individual event champions: Emma Donchi in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle, and the 200 individual medley; Sofia Nosack in the 50 and 100 backstroke, and 100 IM; Alex Young in the 200 IM; and Arden Ma in the 100 free.
The Thunderbolts also took first place in four different relays; the 8 and U girls 100 medley relay team of Elsa Heidrich, Lisa Young, Helen Lin and Annelise Goddard); the 8 and U boys 100 medley relay team of Jared Yin, Maxwell Epperson, Marco Nosack and Jonah Chang; the 10 and U girls 200 freestyle relay team of Sofia Nosack,
Hannah Kim, Nikita Lalwani and Emma Donchi; and the 10 and U boys 200 free relay team of Alex Young, Nate McFaul, Arden Ma and Christopher Yoon.
