Dante and Marty (Racanelli) Petruzzelli of Gresham will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Saturday, March 26, with a party at Club Paesano in Gresham with about 112 friends and family. The guests will include one of the bridesmaids from their wedding.
They were married March 31, 1946, in Portland. Dante and Marty were high school sweethearts. When Marty first saw Dante, she said, 'I am going to marry him.'
Dante worked as a firefighter and fire investigator in Portland. He retired and then worked as an investigator in Gresham. He also taught arson classes.
Marty worked as a schoolteacher in Portland for more than 30 years.
Dante and Marty attend St. Henry Catholic Church and are members of Club Paesano. Dante is also involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol.
Dante and Marty's children are Patti Smith of Kirkland, Wash., and the late Donald Petruzzelli. They have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
