Medina, Sanders, Tittle, Spires

Navy

Medina - Navy Seaman Apprentice Chauncey Medina received an early promotion to her rank for outstanding performance during all phases of her training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Medina is the daughter of Hosea Medina of Gresham. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 2010.

Sanders - Robert M. Sanders enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Portland. He will undergo basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Sanders is the son of Susan Sanders of Gresham and Mark Sanders of West Linn. He graduated in 2010 from Arts and Technology High School in Wilsonville.

Tittle - Devin R. Tittle enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Portland. He will undergo basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Tittle is the son of Mary Wyss of Portland and William Tittle of Portland. He graduated from Centennial High School in 2010.

Marine Corps

Spires - Sgt. Gabriel D. Spires graduated from the Marine Corps Drill Instructors Academy, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, in San Diego on Wednesday, March 23.

Spires is the son of Julian Spires, a retired Marine Corps captain, and Patty Spires of Gresham. He graduated from Gresham High School in 2003.

Spires served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is a decorated combat veteran. Prior to Spires' third deployment to Afghanistan, his parents and neighbors in the Fir Park Neighborhood Association displayed yellow ribbons on trees as a show of support for him and for other service members. The story was featured in the Feb. 13, 2010, edition of The Outlook.
