Wilson names Rose Festival princess
HILLSDALE - Taylor Hodge, a senior at Wilson High School, was named the school's 2011 Portland Rose Festival Court Princess at a ceremony held at the school Feb. 28.
Hodge, a native of Portland, is one of five children. She plans to attend Northern Arizona University to study education next year. A member of the school's National Honor Society, she was captain of the Wilson varsity soccer team and a member of the school's varsity basketball team as well. Outside of school, she's worked as a nanny for the same family for two and a half years and also worked to promote new programs and products at two marketing jobs last summer. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping and snowboarding.
Judged on her character, communication skills and presence, as a member of the 2011 Rose Festival Court, Hodge will join 14 other princesses from the Portland metro area in 'visiting community events, business leaders, hospitals, senior living centers, youth organizations and civic groups' in the weeks leading up to the city's Rose Festival and its Grand Floral Parade, according to www.rosefestival.org. She will also receive a complete wardrobe, one-on-one leadership mentoring and a $3,500 college scholarship.
