Ferguson flying high at Oregon
EUGENE - Former Oregon City High School track and field standout Trevor Ferguson has made the Oregon Track and Field team as a walk-on. Oregon has elected to red-shirt Ferguson in this his freshman season, but the Oregon City High School graduate is already making waves.
Competing unattached in last week's Oregon Preview Meet, Ferguson won the triple jump with a mark of 48-10-1/4, and he placed third in the high hurdles, with a time of 15.1.
Ferguson's effort in the triple jump was a personal record, an improvement of 9-1/4 inches over his Oregon City High School record, which he set last summer.
Oregon senior Amy Skofstad (Gladstone) won the women's long jump at the Oregon Preview Meet, soaring 17-11.
