N. Portland gunfight wounds man, shatters bus windshield
Portland police said a 29-year-old man was injured Thursday afternoon in a gunfight between someone in a vehicle and a group of people on a North Portland sidewalk.
Kenneth W. Riley of North Portland was wounded in the right wrist during the shooting. He was treated at a local hospital.
Gang Enforcement Team detectives are investigating the shooting.
Police were called at about 4:16 p.m. to North Fremont Street and Williams Avenue, where officers found evidence of a shooting but no victim or suspect.
Investigators learned that there was an exchange of gunfire between a vehicle and a group of people in the area. Bullets from the shootout hit a TriMet bus and a parked car. No one on the bus was injured when a bullet went through the windshield and struck the floor.
A short time later, a gunshot victim identified as Riley walked into an area hospital for treatment.
