Wheeler to depart
- Lake Oswego Review - News
Jerry Wheeler has resigned as chief executive officer of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce.
Wheeler is leaving Lake Os-wego after nearly seven years to accept the position of president/chief executive officer of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Com-merce in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Wheeler, whose last day in the chamber office will be May 20, was praised for his service with the chamber by board president Jim Franceus.
'Jerry has made lasting contributions to the Lake Oswego community,' Franceus said, 'with his emphasis on building relationships and tapping the synergy of our institutions, businesses and partnerships.'
Franceus said that the search for Wheeler's successor would begin immediately.
'Finding someone with that element of experience and focus will be extremely important as we begin our search for a new CEO,' Franceus said.
Under the chamber board's oversight, the executive committee will provide leadership for the chamber and its daily operations until a new CEO is chosen.
Wheeler will begin work in Huntington Beach on June 1. He began his tenure with the Lake Oswego Chamber in September 2004.
Wheeler was praised as a strong community builder whose emphasis on economic development has been a key component of the relationship the chamber fostered with the city of Lake Oswego.
