Lightweights power Gresham past No. 6 Hood River
WRESTLING - Back-to-back middleweight wins clinch the victory
Gresham took advantage of four Hood River forfeits to beat the Eagles 40-28 on Thursday night in a battle between two top-10 teams.
The No. 5 Gophers added wins by John Reese (125 pounds) and Alex Rojas (130) to build a 26-0 margin before Hood River managed to take a weight class.
'They sent us a full lineup earlier in the day, so we weren't expecting that,' Gophers' coach Zac Enoch said.
Gresham closed out the team victory with three bouts remaining after Nick Roberts scored three takedowns in the final periods to earn a 13-4 win at 171 pounds.
• In other MHC action, Barlow won 10 of the 14 bouts to beat Centennial 45-20. The Bruins won three bouts by pin and another by technical fall.
