Kilroy is Oregons best
The senior caps her high school career by winning 6A Player of the Year
Jesuit's Erin Kilroy would probably admit that her senior season didn't turn out quite the way she planned.
The top-ranked Crusaders roared into the Class 6A state tournament with a ton of talent and momentum, then promptly lost their first match to North Medford in the quarterfinals.
But much like her Jesuit team, Kilroy finished her year in fine fashion. The Crusaders finished the state tournament with two straight wins and a fourth-place trophy, and Kilroy finished her year by winning Class 6A Player of the Year honors on Dec. 19.
Her individual success was mirrored by that of her team, which went 20-0 in Metro League play and 34-2 overall for Kilroy's junior and season seasons.
Also honored this year were Southridge senior outside hitter Cindy Chen (second team), Jesuit senior outside hitter Elizabeth Dick (honorable mention), Southridge junior libero Jessica Nguyen (honorable mention), Jesuit senior middle blocker Mary Claire Brenner (honorable mention) and Jesuit senior libero Christa Grauert (honorable mention).
North Medford's Ron Beick was named Class 6A Coach of the Year.
