A 17-year-old girl is in stable condition at Oregon Health and Science University after she was stabbed several times in the upper torso on Saturday night, Dec. 29, outside of an apartment in the 900 block of Southeast Yamhill Street.
According to a police statement, the victim was visiting with neighbors in an apartment adjacent to hers and left to speak with her mother. Shortly afterward, the neighbors then heard a tap on the window and found the victim lying outside, barely conscious. Sgt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham Police spokesman, said detectives believe it was the victim who tapped on the window.
The neighbors called 9-1-1 and the victim was transported to Oregon Health and Science University, where she underwent surgery. Grandjean said detectives are eager to interview the victim, but that she is too medicated to speak. The earliest that detectives will be able to speak with her was Friday, Jan. 4.
