Instruction for coaches from Little League to college will be offered at the annual Northwest Baseball Convention this weekend at Embassy Suites PDX.
More than 20 coaches, including Oregon State's Pat Casey and Pat Bailey and Oregon's George Horton, will offer tips. The lineup also features Tom Trebelhorn, longtime major league manager and coach who recently was named skipper of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes; Bud Black, manager of the San Diego Padres; and Washington State's Donnie Marbutt. Other instructors include Tom Lampkin, Dave Gasser, Marty Hunter, Casey Dyer, Don Freeman and Rob Vance.
Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. Friday, with the first clinics from 5:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sessions also run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday. At 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Friends of Baseball will sponsor a youth coaches clinic.
The Walk of Champions luncheon at 12:15 p.m. Saturday will honor Casey and the 2007 NCAA champion Beavers, with other achievement awards presented and celebrity guests to include Florida pitcher Kevin Gregg.

• Oregon State coach Pat Casey will be the keynote speaker at the Portland Old Timers and Active Baseball Players Association's 74th annual banquet Saturday at Multnomah Athletic Club. Tom Trebelhorn will be the master of ceremonies.
