Winter Hawks

Next: The Winter Hawks (8-31-0-1, 17 points, or 10 behind Red Deer and Prince George for last in the Western Hockey League) play host to Spokane at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Memorial Coliseum. Portland travels to Seattle to play Saturday and then returns to face Everett at 5 p.m. Sunday in the coliseum.

Tribune player of week: Backup goalie Jordan White, 18, stopped 41 of 42 shots as Portland beat Prince George 3-1 Sunday night. It was White's second career WHL win, and his first with Portland. White played with the Cougars before being released last season. 'I wanted to show them it was a mistake for them to let me go,' he says. 'Portland gave me a great opportunity here.'

White had been 0-9 with a 4.68 goals-against average and .888 save percentage before the win.

Honorable mention goes to Tristan King, who had his second two-goal game of the season in the victory.
