Boat blaze lights up marina

reported in the blaze.

Columbia River Fire and Rescue worked quickly to bring a boat fire at the St. Helens Marina under control Monday morning, preventing the blaze from spreading to other craft.

The 45-foot vessel is owned by Ray Murphy.

'I saw smoke, then looked down and saw it was Ray's boat,' said Lyn Cocklin, who witnessed the fire from the window of her home located on a hillside overlooking the marina.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

When firefighting crews arrived the boat was fully engulfed, and it had to be towed to the shore where response crews had better access to it.

It took around two hours to fully extinguish blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
