Nonprofits get holiday bonus

The Habitat for Humanity house took first place in Summerfield Homes' second annual Holiday Festival of Charity Lights in Forest Grove Dec. 6-8.
It received the most votes among six houses sponsored by local business owners, who selected nonprofits to receive donations from those who visited the festive new homes. The Habitat house received $2,361.35 in donations, which will be used to help the group provide homes to low-income residents in the area.
Second place went to the Forest Grove High School Grad Night House, with $318.66 in donations. The Family Resource Center house, with $149.07 in donations, placed third.
In addition to the donations from those who visited the homes, those three non-profits will split a $6,000 contribution from Summerfield.
The Leukemia Foundation house earned $43.46, the Doernbecher Hospital house $31.50 and the Forest Grove Education Foundation house $10.18.
