Man rescued from Molalla River charged with reckless driving
The Vancouver man tried to ford the river; his car stalled
A Vancouver man was arrested for reckless driving after he and a passenger were plucked from the top of a jeep stuck in the swift currents of the Molalla River on Wednesday.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reported that Vitaly K. Chernov, 27, of Vancouver, was 'four-wheeling' in his Jeep with passenger Oleg Vilkhovey, 20, of Happy Valley, when he decided to try to ford the river at Wagon Wheel Park around 3:30 p.m. The vehicle became stuck in the current, and the two men were perched atop the Jeep when rescue personnel arrived.
Rescue workers were able to retrieve the two from the middle of the river and bring them safely to shore at approximately 4:20 p.m. The men were in good condition and did not require medical attention.
