Police rescue injured, kidnapped woman


Portland police rescued a woman being held against her will Saturdaym and arrested a man in connection with the incident.

Kip Kawamoto has been charged with second-degree assault, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree kidnapping. He was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail.

The victim was being treated at a local hospital. Her name and medical condition have not been released.

According to police, at 4:02 p.m. on April 30, officers responded to a call about a woman who was assaulted and held against her will in a house at 9815 N. Midway Ave.

The woman was believed to be severely injured and kept in a bedroom.

Officers went into the house, rescued the woman and took Kawamoto into custody.
