Baseball: Tickets go on sale Monday for the Oregon State baseball team's three-game series against Georgia at PGE Park. Single-game tickets, all general admission, are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 3 to 18 and OSU students. Call 503-224-4400.
The games will be 6 p.m. Feb. 29, 1 p.m. March 1, and noon March 2. The event is the Papé Grand Slam.
OSU swept Georgia last year, outscoring the Bulldogs 23-13 in three games at Athens, Ga. In the 2006 College World Series, the Beavers won 5-3 en route to their first of two consecutive national titles.
Oregon State opens Feb. 22 through Feb. 24 with single games against Vanderbilt, Miami of Ohio and Arizona State, all in the ASU Tournament at Tempe, Ariz.
Track and field: The Portland State women, who return Big Sky Conference weight throwing champion Caressa Sims from Jefferson High, have been picked to finish fourth this season by the league coaches. The PSU men were pegged for last place.
Football: Former PSU defensive coordinator Greg Lupfer emerged last week as a candidate for the head coaching position at Central Washington.
